Nicaela Pangborn...

Composer, Nicaela Pangborn, was born and raised in Minnesota where she began her passion for music at the age of 10. By high school, Nicaela had begun organizing independent concerts of her original works and had multiple large pieces performed by the school’s bands and choirs. During her senior year of high school, Nicaela was commissioned to write music for her first wedding. This would be the beginning of her career as a wedding and event composer.

Nicaela studied Music Theory and Composition at the University of Minnesota, Duluth campus in 2010 for her Bachelor’s Degree. Throughout her undergraduate studies, she took part in multiple ensembles, choirs, and bands including but not limited to; symphonic wind ensemble, clarinet choir, saxophone quartet, women’s choir, concert choir, woodwind quintet, pep band, commando band, pit orchestra, and cabaret. All the while, Nicaela participated in multiple young composer competitions including the New Music Festival - Instrumental and Vocal Editions, the Minnesota/Wisconsin Young Composer Competition, and Duluth-Superior Symphony Orchestra Composers Competition. Nicaela was offered grants in research on Early Chant, Development of Polyphony, Music of the Trecento Period, and was also awarded with an Undergraduate Research Opportunity Project to compose, engrave, record and master an album of original works. Nicaela was part of the Dean’s list and Honor Program for every consecutive year of her undergraduate career, in spite of all her extensive workload and ensemble participation.

Upon graduating from the University of Minnesota early, Nicaela was accepted into the Master of Music program at Western Washington University in Bellingham, WA. Nicaela was awarded with an assistantship for the Department of Music Theory and Composition both of her years at the University. Her graduate program was the perfect opportunity for Nicaela to enhance her teaching abilities and expand on her style of composition. Much like her undergrad, Nicaela maintained a perfect GPA throughout her Master’s Degree and was awarded with honors in her program.

After graduating with her Master's in Music, Nicaela shifted her focus towards creating a valuable and unique company focused on designing custom music for clients. To this day, Nicaela is dedicated to her continued study of music and sharing her love of music with others.
